RESTRICTED ACCESS FILE 5

I was roused from my slumber by the sound of voices. Though they were faint, they felt… close. At first I thought some hoodlums may have wandered into my home, but… No, these voices were different. They were ever present – nothing would drown them out. I crept nervously out of my room and investigated the house. It didn’t take long for me to find their source – the pool of water I had discovered the day prior.

As soon as I lifted the trapdoor, I was hit with an intense green light. The pool was glowing fiercely, as was the small symbol etched above it. Reflected upon its surface was a sky… A familiar green, blotchy sky. Something about it felt as though it were… calling to me. Enamored, I cautiously reached towards the water.

My world began to spin – the dark hall I was in moments prior now twisting and morphing until it was no more. After several grueling moments of intense dizziness and confusion, my world finally stilled. I was no longer in that old house, but instead… outdoors?

I had been transported to what appeared to be a path… A nature trail, to be precise. Normally, I would have been rather concerned about my predicament, but something about this place felt… comforting. I was entranced, really. It was beautiful.

Without thinking, I began exploring the strange realm I had inadvertently stumbled into. On one side of the trail was a treeline. On the other, a creek. As I wandered along the path, I noticed that strange lights would occasionally emit from the water… Upon closer examination, I realized that the water’s surface was reflecting yet another location. It appeared to be… a room? One that was unfamiliar to me. As I progressed along the creek, the reflections continued to change, each one depicting a new location. I noticed that whenever I would retrace my steps, the reflections would transform back to a previous location. Do specific parts of the creek reflect specific locations? This seems to be the case…

I eventually came across a reflection that caught my interest – a dimly lit room that contained a large ornate fixture in the shape of that same circular symbol. Curious, I reached down and touched the water’s surface…

Fortunately, the experience wasn’t nearly as dizzying this time. I stood up and took in my surroundings. Sure enough, I had been taken to the dim room reflected in the creek. Behind me was a small pool of water much like the one found in my home. My suspicions were correct – these waters indeed act as two-way portals, but… why? What’s the connection here? Perhaps a thorough analysis of these rooms would provide an answer…
